Hudstead (aka Homestead) Update. By Geniusofdespair

A new watchdog Facebook Page exists for Hudstead: True Homestead (not to be confused with True Blessing Car Care on Krome Avenue).

Their mission is: This page is to expose corruption and ethical failings in the City of Homestead and its Police... (Tall Order)

Here is a video starring, I think, the owner of the site Dr. James Eric McDonough:

James have you looked at Wayne Rosen? Wayne, I have decided that you should restore the golf course to a park, like they did in Palm Aire (Pompano Beach) because you owe the people of Homestead so much and you have gotten rich off of them. Not a cut the grass park but a more natural park. I think you should talk to The Trust for Public Land. Maybe you can even get tax write-offs. Don't be so greedy Wayne. Help the people who stupidly bought your homes with the promise of a golf course. And, let them form an independent Homeowner's Association. It is time (over 20 years of buildout--come on!).

I think this is a site worth following. It appears to focus on police...I followed all their links.

RUMOR:

Lynda Bell has her house for sale for $385,000 according to Zillow and has already moved to Tallahassee where she has bought some rental property.

so right about Daphne Campbell, the WORST! i could not believe the folks running against her the last time could not come to a consensus to only run 1 person instead of splitting the votes. i called Dorrin Rolle the toad of toad hall but Daphne is hella worse. alas, most of Miami-Dade seems forever to be locked in identity politics. Why can't the state Democratic party kick her out of the party?

What? You forgot about Hialeah?!?! Despite what others may think, we read here in this town. Hialeah is in the news everyday and, sometimes the news is not good, but our city is still actually safer than many other areas of Miami-Dade, strangers say hello and talk to each other as if they were family, parking is free everywhere, we got some nice restaurants that won't break your pocketbook, Westland Mall is looking good, anything you want you can still find on 49th Street and other places around the city. In our far forgotten East side, Flamingo Plaza has some great thrift shops and boutiques, Valsan opened up and the Marshalls there is an added asset, the Winn Dixie that is now a Fresco is convenient and McDonald's getting a makeover. But, local government still needs to work harder at fixing the zoning mess, protecting residential areas, legalizing efficiencies free from county manipulation, improve on pollution, clean up the railroad tracks, get streets cleaned and repaved, improve public services, etc . . . The politics are the same ole' - same ole' . . . the fight for Mayor is on the pot but hasn't brewed yet. The 1947 house on the corner is still there (the lady wanted to turn it into a liquor store and so far I don't think they have allowed it, but they are letting it deteriorate - the usual scenario). Someone with money and a good hear should buy it and restore it to its original glory before it turns into yet another used car lot or liquor store (maybe former Mayor Raul Martinez?)It would be nice for government to fix some of the error of the past and save these historic homes and buildings (Art Deco / Mimo Hialeah?) . . .
